Experience natural Florida as you traverse through the scrubby flatwoods, oak hammocks, cypress domes, floodplain swamp, and wet prairies of Hickory Bluff Preserve, overlooking the St. Johns River in Volusia County! Keep an eye out for birds and wildlife including osprey, eagle, great blue heron, barred owl, gopher tortoise, alligator, river otter, bobcat, deer and turkey. This preserve includes two trails for hiking and biking, totaling 2.2 miles. A picnic area and primitive camping (permit required) is available where the trail overlooks the St. Johns River. Leashed pets are allowed to join you on your hike.
