Explore the floodplain swamp and pine flatwoods by foot or water at Deep Creek Conservation Area in St. Johns County. This conservation area is made up of two tracts, Yarborough (1,103 acres) and Deep Creek North (4,529 acres). Within the property, there are trails available for hiking and biking. There are no boat launches on the property, but visitors may access the water for boating, paddling and fishing opportunities at the State Road 207 bridge over Deep Creek, just west of the State Road 206 intersection. The creek can also be accessed from the St. Johns River. Some wading and marsh birds you may see in the area include the great blue heron, double-breasted cormorant, anhinga, common egret, tri-colored heron, boat-tailed grackle, and red-winged blackbird.
