Rice Creek Conservation Area offers hiking and biking trails and primitive camping in Palatka, Florida. Rice Creek Swamp, the headwaters of Rice Creek, covers much of this conservation area. The area is defined by floodplain swamp, flatwoods, dome swamp, floodplain forest and upland mixed forest. Walk along the historic levee into the swamp to witness the seventh largest cypress tree in Florida. Those hiking the Florida National Scenic Trail will go through Rice Creek Conservation Area. Birders and wildlife lovers can keep an eye out for a variety of songbirds, and may see a black bear, white-tailed deer, turkey, river otter, or wood duck.
