Get Your Feet Wet… at Blue Cypress Park!

,

When you’re in need of some quality time outdoors, northeast Florida has you covered! From parks to nature trails, there’s an adventure waiting for everyone.

Are you searching for tranquil hiking/biking trails, a golf course, and a tennis court with a beautiful, scenic view of the St. Johns River?

Look no further! Today, we’re going to be introducing you to Blue Cypress Park – a vibrant and lush recreational park along the sparkling St. Johns River.

A Rundown of Blue Cypress Park

“The city-owned park named Blue Cypress in the Arlington section of Jacksonville, was at one time a local 18-hole golf course for the Edenfield River Estates development,” states the City of Jacksonville website, “But because the park is located in an environmentally sensitive area, plans were developed to reduce the course to a 9-hole golf course and use the remaining area for a natural, resourced-based public outdoor recreation site.”

The park includes:

  • 9-hole golf course
  • Community center
  • Tennis courts
  • Fishing dock/boardwalk
  • Soccer fields
  • Trails

The Perfect Day Outdoors

Blue Cypress Park is open from sunrise to sunset and has a plethora of amenities along its 118-acre grounds! This area is perfect for nature and fitness lovers alike.

There are two miles of trails perfect for jogging, walking, or biking.

“After a family picnic at one of many picnic tables and grills, enjoy the quieter side of the park fishing off the pier or observing wading birds and other native wildlife and vegetation from the river boardwalk,” suggests the Florida Communities Trust Parks Directory.

The abundance of wildlife to be seen along the St. Johns River is definitely a sight to behold! According to Dr. Quintin White, a professor of biology and marine science at Jacksonville University, “The St. Johns River is such a diverse ecosystem that we can find large marine mammals like manatees and dolphins, along with hundreds of fish species and thousands of invertebrate animals, not to mention the number of plants living along its shores.”

Whether you’re looking for hiking, biking, fishing or wildlife observation, a trip to Blue Cypress Park is sure to guarantee you beautiful quality time spent in the great outdoors.
